1. Being of service to others gets us out of our very own pity party. There is nothing like a change of scenery to change our mood.
2. We feel a sense of gratitude and realize our life could be much worse. Our perspective changes when we see life through the eyes of a less fortunate person.
3. We build a sense of connection to others because after all, they have problems too.
4. When we are busy helping others, we tend to forget about our own worries for a while.
5. We receive appreciation from others because they feel seen, loved, and valued. That’s an important gift to give someone.
6. You can make a difference, even with small efforts. Lend someone a caring ear, offer a kind word or compliment, or give an encouraging smile. All will brighten someone’s day.
