It’s more than being open to change. It’s being open to possibilities.
Change can “enhance” your life. Read that again. Yes, change can enhance your life and therefore be a good thing.
We all know change is going to happen, whether we like it or not, so we might as well get used to it. But what if, change was actually good for us? What if it was indeed a way to improve our lives, even if we didn’t plan it that way?
Just think, if you were more open to change, you might consider getting to know someone a bit outside your normal circle of friends. You might learn they are just people too, even if they come from a different culture or look different than your other friends. You might learn about their background and life experiences. Doing so might give you a sense of understanding, empathy, or even amazement.
What if you were open to some new thoughts—expressed in a book, in a documentary, or in a movie? You might learn something new. Your brain might see a connection to other things in your daily life that you wouldn’t have considered otherwise.
Have you ever thought about the path less traveled when you plan your vacation destination? Maybe going to a typical tourist destination is just the tip of the iceberg. Perhaps going to a far, out of the way place might feed your curiosity and your senses to a new level. You won’t know unless you are open to the idea!
When was the last time you learned a new skill? It might be line dancing, yoga, pickle ball, or a new computer application. Stretch your brain a bit, it might be fun. You could even make new friends while learning this skill.
Now that you see that possibilities are endless if you are just open to change, what change are you willing to make?
